The Gate — J Calaway — Make Today Count
“When you choose hope, you choose God’s perspective over your problems.”
Hope lifts your eyes from what is seen to what God has spoken.
HOPE IS A CHOICE
Hope isn’t automatic — it’s a decision.
Feelings follow focus.
When you choose hope, you shift your attention from:
Problems → God’s promises
Pressure → God’s presence
Fear → God’s faithfulness
Scripture: Psalm 121:1–2 — I lift my eyes… my help comes from the Lord.
GOD’S PERSPECTIVE IS HIGHER
Problems look big up close.
But God sees:
Beginning and end
What you can’t see
The purpose behind the pressure
Scripture: Isaiah 55:8–9 — God’s thoughts and ways are higher.
Hope says: “God knows more than I do— and He’s leading me.”
BIBLICAL EXAMPLE: JOSEPH
Joseph’s perspective was tested:
Betrayed
Wrongfully accused
Forgotten
But God was positioning him the whole time.
Scripture: Genesis 50:20 — What the enemy meant for harm, God used for good.
Hope keeps you aligned with God’s purpose even when life feels unfair.
HOPE REFRAMES YOUR SITUATION
Hope doesn’t pretend the mountain isn’t there —
Hope says God is bigger than the mountain.
With God’s perspective, you begin to see:
Delay → Preparation
Detour → Protection
Setback → Setup
Scripture: Romans 8:28 — All things work together for good.
When you choose hope, you see what God is doing, not just what is happening.
